Correos, the Spanish Post office, will issue a series of commemorative stamps next year as part of the celebrations to mark the 500th anniversary of the death of Queen Isabel la Católica (1451-1504) in Medina del Campo. Correos approved the request made by the Medina del Campo Philatelic Society, who want to reinforce the town´s links with the daughter of Juan II of Castilla, sister of Enrique IV, mother of Juana I, and grandmother of Carlos V. In 1951, Correos marked the 500th anniversary of the birth of Isabel I of Castilla in Madrigal de las Altas Torres (Avila), with a special edition red post mark.
