High winds cause Canary Islands weather alert
The Canary Islands Safety and Emergency Department has announced that the region is still on weather alert today owing to winds of up to 75km an hour which have been buffeting the islands since yesterday. The worst affected areas are north Tenerife, La Palma, east Gran Canaria, and the north and south of Lanzarote. In the western islands, gusts of up to 90km and hour are expected. Conditions are expected to return to normal from Monday onwards.
