The Infanta Elena, eldest daughter of the King and Queen of Spain, is now officially divorced from Jaime de Marichalar, after legal notice was entered into the Civil Register of the Royal Family on January 21st and made public today.
The Duke and Duchess of Lugo, who were married in Seville Cathedral on March 18th 1995, separated in November 2007 and have now, two years later, made their divorce official.
The Infanta Elena's biography on the royal family's webpage confirms that the her marriage to Don Jaime de Marichalar y Sáenz de Tejada is officially over.
The Infanta, who turned 46 on December 20th, has two children by Jaime de Marichalar - 11-year-old Juan Felipe Froilán and nine-year-old Victoria Frederica.
The King & Queen's eldest daughter, who has a degree in Educational Sciences, divides her time between her role as director of Cultural and Social Projects for the Mapfre Foundation and attending royal engagements.
