A 25-year-old British tourist died today after falling from the balcony of the fourth-floor bedroom of the hotel where she was staying in the Ibizan town of Sant Antoni de Portmany.
The accident occurred around 7am when the young woman was chatting with another woman on an adjacent balcony and, for reasons that are being investigated, she lost her balance and fell to the street below.
An ambulance was called to the Hotel Galera on Calle Camí, where the victim was found with multiple bruising and in cardiopulmonary arrest, but the paramedics' attempts to revive her failed.
Initial police reports suggest that she was not trying to go from one balcony to another, as has been the case with other recent tourist deaths in Spain's holiday hotspots.
