Fatal accident at Barcelona metro station causes rail disruption
06/05/2016
A DEATH on the line early this morning has led to hold-ups along Barcelona metro.
Lines R2 and R11 in both directions – the most heavily-frequented during rush hour – were disrupted with trains between Barcelona-Sants, Passeig de Gràcia and Clot Aragó diverted and a half-hour delay on the Rodalies, or outer suburban links.
Details of the victim, who was run over by a train at Passeig de Gràcia underground station, have not been released and it is not known whether it was a suicide or a tragic accident.
It took over an hour and a half before the trains were up and running again properly, towards the tail end of the rush hour.
