GUARDIA Civil divers have restarted the search for missing Manuela Chavero who vanished in early July leaving the lights on in her lounge and kitchen and without taking her phone or purse.
The 42-year-old mother of two, who was in the process of separating from her partner, left no trace when she disappeared from her home town of Monesterio (Badajoz, Extremadura), and police say her television was still on, no signs of forced entry or upheaval were seen in her house, and her mobile was last switched on just before 02.00 on July 5.
Investigators have drawn a blank so far, and have now started to search the Tentudía swamp using underwater robot radar equipment to take detailed pictures, whilst scuba-divers will search the bottom of the lake, which is 30 metres (between 97 and 98 feet) deep.
Specialists will ascertain whether the depth of the swamp has changed since the last search, in November, as well as visibility conditions.
Three weeks ago, the Guardia Civil searched three cars in Monesterio belonging to at least one family member of the missing woman.
They have also been following up a witness statement.
According to Manuela's sister, Emilia Chavero, one of the missing mother's neighbours said he had seen a 'suspicious-looking individual' in 'an orange top' in the vicinity of Manuela's house at around the time she 'signed off WhatsApp' on the night she disappeared.
Three major searches have been carried out in the area close to where Manuela lives since she went missing.
