A YOUTH on a train who shouted at the top of his voice that he had a bomb and was going to detonate it caused the high-speed AVE Barcelona-Girona line to be pulled up and evacuated yesterday evening (Thursday).
The ARRO security forces were sent out to surround Girona station and block all the entrances while the train was searched and passengers filed out.
Station staff say the youth, of Arabic appearance and accent, was seated in Coach 7 of the train when he began to shout, threatening to blow it up.
No explosives were found and the man's claims turned out to be a false alarm, meaning minutes later, the train was able to resume its journey to Figueres station (pictured).
The offender, who was arrested, claimed to be Moroccan, but said he did not have any ID with him.
