A PENSIONER lived with the body of her son in her Asturias home for a week before police found him, alerted by neighbours who reported a strong smell of decomposing flesh.
The mother, 73, apparently suffers from dementia and told police who arrived at her home in La Felguera that she was frightened her son, 50, was going to kill her.
His body had been in the house for nearly a week by then, although the cause of his death is not known.
He was taken away for a post-mortem, and health authorities took his mother in for a check-up and treatment.
It is not known whether she was under the care of the social services, or whether her son had been looking after her.
