STUNNED motorists did a double take when they saw a plane landing on a sliproad off the AP-7 motorway last night (Sunday).
It touched down near a service station in Cardedeu (Barcelona province) at kilometre 123 at around 17.15.
But the odd landing had been carefully planned: the airport in Sabadell (Barcelona) had warned emergency services that a four-seater light aircraft needed to make an emergency touch-down as it had a problem with its engine.
The operation was tightly coordinated and the craft landed safely with no injury to occupants.
It did not invade the motorway at any point, and did not cause any problems with traffic.
The above photograph was taken by the Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalunya's answer to the Guardia Civil, and posted on their Twitter account (@mossos).
