Atlético de Madrid FC's Koke robbed at gunpoint in car park
08/04/2017
ATLÉTICO de Madrid FC midfielder 'Koke' has been robbed at gunpoint in a car park and his watch worth €70,000 stolen, police say.
The player (pictured), who is in the same position in the Spanish team as for the premier league club in the capital, had wound down his window to take a ticket at the car park in the Plaza de Olavide, in Madrid's Chamberí district.
A motorcyclist who had been following him pulled up next to his window, pointed a gun at him and demanded he give him his watch – the brand of which has not been revealed, but which is said to be worth the equivalent of a small apartment.
Koke gave the thief his watch to avoid further trouble and for his own safety, and the culprit sped off on his bike.
He immediately reported the incident to the National Police, who are now in possession of CCTV footage which they believe will enable them to identify the culprit.
Koke is due to play today (Saturday) in an away match at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium against Real Madrid in a local derby which forms part of the second round – day 31 - of the Santander League.
The match is set to kick off at 16.15.
