Her mother, Diana López Pinel, was reportedly called in by the Guardia Civil to mediate with them in front of the court of Ribeira (A Coruña province) since they believed they were 'very close' to resolving the case and needed a little more time for it to remain sub judice.
This mediation bore no fruit, and the Guardia Civil, who are still investigating the 'complex' disappearance of the 18-year-old on August 22, are said to be 'furious' with the judge's decision.
Diana's parents, who separated when she was 14, are equally upset, with her father, property tycoon Juan Carlos Quer, saying it was 'a sad day' for himself, his family and his daughter.
Although the case is no longer sub judice, little has emerged about investigations to date other than the fact that there has been at least one 'suspect' since November and that Diana's going missing was 'not voluntarily' on her part.
Police had been keeping a close watch on the 'suspects' in order to catch them out, and believed it would not be long,
It is not clear whether the police expect to find Diana alive.
The case was temporarily filed because of 'no evidence or indications' of criminal activity by any person or persons, and the young woman's parents were called in person to Ribeira court to be told of the unpopular decision.
