AN EXPAT pensioner has died after being stung by swarms of thousands of bees whilst out walking near Mijas (Malaga province) last night.
The victim, a Norwegian national aged 70, was found with his T-shirt pulled over his head by a woman out walking her dog in the Riviera del Sol area at about 20.00 yesterday (Friday).
He had suffered stings all over his body except his face and head, due to having used his T-shirt to keep them off.
It is not known how the bees managed to escape or why they targeted him, but police are searching for the bee-keeper.
Guardia Civil officers were called out by the woman who found him, but he was already dead by the time they reached the scene.
They say the footpath ran near a hive, although generally bees do not attack unless they feel under threat.
A MAN declared dead at his home in the province of Tarragona was on his way to the funeral parlour when he turned out to be alive, according to police sources.
