A YOUNG man who burst into a wedding service at a Valladolid church shouting 'Allahu akbar' ('Allah is great') has been arrested for a public order offence.
The accused, a 22-year-old Moroccan student who lives in the city, was considered to be deliberately trying to cause alarm by letting the congregation think he was about to stage a terrorist attack.
Terrorists who support DAESH's so-called Jihad, or 'holy war', normally make this otherwise harmless proclamation – a standard call to the mosque but hijacked by extremists – before opening fire or blowing themselves up.
In light of this and the man having appeared out of the blue in a family ceremony he was completely unconnected to, the National Police and TEDAX explosives squad were called in.
This was at around 18.30 on Saturday, and the wedding was able to carry on as normal after the accused was handcuffed and the San Pablo church (pictured) declared bomb-free.
