THE famous and much-loved Arenal Sound Festival will return to the port area of Burriana (Castellón province) this summer after having been forced to move last year due to residents complaining about the noise.
Held between August 1 and 6, the festival is 'shared' between Burriana and neighbouring Vila-real, and the port area has always been one of its selling points as a top location with a sea breeze and plenty of space.
The promoters have been negotiating all year with the resident who filed legal action in 2013 for noise nuisance, leading to Burriana town hall being forced to pay compensation to him and other local dwellers as well as moving the event elsewhere.
“We've held out our hands – and our arms and entire bodies – to reach an agreement, but it has not been possible,” says event manager David Sánchez.
“But we will ensure improved measures are in place to contain and control the noise level since, as a company, we always make sure we comply with the law.
“The music will not reach anywhere near the decibel levels it did in summer 2013.”
Artists and bands for Arenal Sound are expected to be confirmed nearer the date.
