TENERIFE South airport was shut for five hours on Tuesday night after a landing wheel on an incoming flight burst on the runway.
The Jet2 plane from Manchester became stuck on the runway, forcing 24 planes to divert as they were unable to take off or land.
Between 14.00 and 19.15, flights heading for Tenerife South had to land in Gran Canaria, except from one which landed in Lanzarote and three more which managed to get a slot at Tenerife North.
Nobody was injured on the Jet2 flight and no damage was caused to luggage.
