A CAPSIZED raft found in the Alborán Sea was carrying 52 would-be migrants, but only three have been found so far.
The inflatable rubber dinghy had been drifting for several days, according to those left on board, since they set off from Morocco heading for the Spanish coast.
These three, all male sub-Saharans, one aged 17 and two of 25, were found yesterday (Tuesday) only after 48 hours of combing a huge stretch of water between the port of Almería and the Strait of Gibraltar.
Coastguard officials had been alerted on Sunday by a refugee charity that the craft was leaving Morocco and heading north.
The three found still clinging to the wreckage were flown to Almería airport and attended to by paramedics.
Another 49 remain missing, and as each hour passes hopes are slipping away of finding them alive.
