LATE mayoress of Valencia Rita Barberá's apartment is now on the market for €850,000.
The 269-square-metre, five-bedroomed flat with three bathrooms and a 25-square-metre garage in the central neighbourhood of Xerea is on the third floor of the block at number 3 of the C/ General Palanca in Valencia.
Built in 1975 with two entrance doors and two stairwells, with sea-views and fixtures and decorations described as 'medium- to high-quality' – including marble flooring, mains gas, air-conditioning and central heating – the apartment was rented by Rita during her 24 years as mayoress, a reign which ended in May 2015 when left-wing Compromís won the elections and its leader Joan Ribó became mayor.
Rita had remained a member of the PP and continued her role as senator for another 18 months, until her sudden death from liver cirrhosis complications in late November 2016.
The apartment she used as her city base for work is of a quality and in an area where the price per square metre comes in at around €3,159, meaning a standard valuation of €849,771 for the property.
The asking price has been rounded up by €229 to a total of €850,000.
