FORMER Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson is in a 'serious condition' in a Mallorca hospital being treated for pneumonia, which he caught during his summer holidays on the island with his family.
Clarkson's is said to be very ill, and will need several weeks to recover from the infection, but it is not thought his life is in immediate danger.
He is conscious, however, and has been using social media from his hospital bed.
The controversial television show host has posted a photo of his arm with hospital wrist-bands, gauze and tape near his hand, and a drip attachment, with the caption: “Not the sort of bangles I usually choose on holiday.”
Plenty of fans have posted 'get well soon' messages on his Instagram account, with some questioning, “how do you get pneumonia in the Mediterranean in summer?!” and, “at least you chose a warm and sunny spot for your enforced break.”
Some fans are wondering if Clarkson's new Amazon-based show, The Grand Tour, is jinxed, given that his on-screen colleague Richard Hammond suffered a motorbike accident whilst filming just a few days before Jeremy was admitted to the undisclosed hospital.
The photograph – from Instagram (@jeremyclarkson1) shows Clarkson enjoying his Balearic break around 10 days before his diagnosis.
