AN EIGHT-YEAR-OLD British girl who went missing in El Albir (Alicante province) has been found safe and sound in the restaurant next door to the one she was last seen at.
The youngster had gone inside and fallen asleep, police say.
Her mother reported her missing at 02.00 this morning (Thursday) after an hour of frantic searching following her disappearance from the eatery where she had been dining with her family.
Six hours later, at about 08.00 this morning, Guardia Civil officers saw that the television in the restaurant next door had been switched on, even though it was closed and locked up.
Upon investigating, they found the little British girl watching it, unharmed and perfectly calm.
It turned out she had slipped away from the table where she and her family were eating and gone off to explore, wandering into the one next door.
Whilst there, and unseen by staff, she had fallen asleep, and not woken up until daylight.
Confident that she would be found there sooner or later, she turned on the TV to watch it in the meantime.
The photograph shows her with the two officers who found her and reunited her with her family.
