FORMER Barça star Neymar has been fined around €1 million by his native Brazil for tax evasion, as have his parents and three of the dormant front companies he set up to account for his income.
Neymar, who recently moved to Paris-Saint German (PSG), recorded his salaries for playing and his image royalties for advertising earned between 2011 and 2013 inclusive as income received by his and his family's companies, since commercial tax in Brazil ranges from 15% to 25%, compared with 27.5% for personal income tax.
Back in September 2015, a regional court in Brazil embargoed 192.7 million reais (around €52m) in assets belonging to the ex-FC Barcelona forward, and has now fined him 3.8 million reais (just over €1m) for 'misrepresentation'.
The fine amounts to 2% of of the value that the regional prosecution, or Fisco Federal, expects to receive from Neymar in unpaid taxes and non-payment penalties.
