THOUSANDS of customers queued up all over Spain today (Friday) to buy the iPhone X on the day it first hit the shelves in 55 countries worldwide – some after camping out all night.
By 08.00, over 400 people had gathered in Madrid's central Puerta del Sol square outside the Apple store – one of 11 across the country – but it is likely many of them went home empty-handed, since only a limited number of models have been released as yet.
The iPhone X has been launched to mark the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, created by the late Steve Jobs' empire, and includes state-of-the-art features never seen before in any of the earlier terminals – a 5.8-inch touch-screen, larger now that the outer borders have been removed, and a Face ID function which allows the handset to be unlocked by the device recognising the owner's face, rather than having to type in a PIN.
