Shakira cancels all Spanish concert dates due to 'vocal cord bleeding'
15/11/2017
POP-ROCK legend Shakira has postponed all her concerts in Spain until 2018 at her doctor's recommendation, along with the rest of her European tour.
The Colombian star, 40, partner of FC Barcelona's Gerard Piqué and mother of his two small sons, was due to perform in Madrid, Bilbao, A Coruña and Barcelona – where she lives – before the end of this year as part of her El Dorado World Tour, although recently announced the cancellation of the first date, in Germany.
According to an official press release, the artist has suffered a 'vocal cord haemorrhage' and has been told to rest her voice completely to avoid causing permanent damage.
“Due to bleeding in her vocal cords, Shakira has been advised to delay any performing for the moment to allow her to heal properly before starting her world tour, and to avoid any additional damage,” the communication says.
Promoters Last Tour and Live Nation said: “Although she is very disappointed about this result – as she was hoping to be able to start this week – Shakira is working on recovering and wants to get back on stage with her best show ever seen to date.”
Both companies have told fans to keep hold of their tickets, since new dates for all cancelled concerts will be announced as soon as possible.
“Shakira remains incredibly grateful for the loyalty, patience and support her fans have shown her at this difficult time,” the message from the promoters concludes.
