A NEW mum pulled up for jumping a red traffic light has been charged with theft after a breast pump worth €1,700 from a nearby hospital was found in her car.
The accused was stopped by Local Police in Granada, who found the electronic pump – a Medela Symphony – with a sticker from the city's Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital on it, a chain attached to one of its handles and a metal clasp which 'showed signs of having been ripped out' from its fitting.
Officers reported yesterday (Friday) that they had caught the woman in the early hours of Wednesday morning, at around 01.10.
She claimed a female neighbour had given her the pump, but was unable to provide any further information.
Police did not consider her explanations to be enough to show a 'legal origin' of the apparatus, and confiscated it.
The driver is not thought to have been arrested, but is likely to face trial for theft and could be ordered to pay a fine and awarded a suspended sentence.
