AN EXPLOSION at an industrial estate in the province of Sevilla has left an employee with serious burns and having to be evacuated by helicopter.
The oil factory on the El Esparragal industrial estate in Guillena blew up yesterday morning, emergency services have just reported.
They managed to put out the flames by around 11.15.
The blaze started in a concrete factory nearby and spread to the oil warehouse where they caused a conflagration.
Guardia Civil officers air-lifted the worker with the worst injuries to the Virgen del Rocío hospital in Sevilla, and his condition has been described as critical.
A huge column of black smoke billowing up from the industrial estate was visible from a distance of nearly 30 kilometres, and all other warehouses on the complex had to be evacuated.
A MAN declared dead at his home in the province of Tarragona was on his way to the funeral parlour when he turned out to be alive, according to police sources.
