Albacete midfielder Pelayo 'critical' after balcony fall
SECOND-DIVISION club Albacete FC midfielder Pelayo Novo is in a critical condition after falling out of a third-floor hotel balcony in the Pyrénéen city of Huesca (Aragón).

His team-mates Susaeta and Rubén Miño were the first to attend to Pelayo, 27, who is originally from Oviedo (Asturias) after his fall from the ABBA Hotel terrace, but as yet the reason for the accident is not known.

He landed in the central atrium and was rushed straight to Zaragoza's Hospital Clínico Universitario, where he remains in intensive care under sedation.

Pelayo (pictured centre) has 'numerous fractures' and is said to be 'stable but serious'.

Albacete Balompié FC had been in Huesca for an away match, and left the city at 15.05 today (Saturday) by bus, five hours before kick-off was due, as La Liga agreed to postpone the game.

Huesca FC, whom Albacete would have been competing against this evening for the 33rd day of the Liga 1/2/3, was very concerned and supportive of its rival team, offering as much help as it could.
