THREE of Spain's top international tennis stars took advantage of their last day off before the Davis Cup to visit young patients at Valencia's Hospital Clínico.
Mallorca-born Rafa Nadal – now back at world number one – and David Ferrer, from Jávea near Valencia, along with Spanish team captain Sergi Bruguera spent the morning with delighted youngsters on the children's ward, none of whom had any idea in advance that their national sporting heroes would be dropping in.
Hospital Clínico thanked them profusely on Twitter for 'filling the children's ward with excitement' and wished them luck in their matches.
Spain is up against Germany in the Davis Cup, where Nadal and Ferrer will play in the singles matches, whilst Feliciano López and Marc López – who are not related – will play in the doubles.
Marc substitutes Pablo Carreño at the last minute after the latter suffered an injury.
They are due to start at 11.30 this morning (Friday) in Valencia.
Rafa and David will play Germany's singles competitors Alexander Zverev and Philipp Kohlschreiber, whilst Feliciano and Marc will play against duo Jan-Lennard Struff and Tim Pütz.
