KING Felipe VI's annual Christmas Eve speech once again included a covert appeal to secessionist politicians, as well as raising concerns about young adults' struggle to afford housing and violence against women.
Inditex heiress Marta Ortega to marry Carlos Torretta, son of designer Roberto
26/05/2018
INDITEX heiress Marta Ortega will be married again this autumn, this time to Carlos Torretta, son of fashion designer Roberto Torretta.
The couple are pictured here at New York Fashion Week, the first time they appeared together in a photograph, in September 2016.
Marta, 34, whose famous father Amancio is Europe's richest man, was married to showjumper Sergio Álvarez Moya in 2012, but the couple divorced two years later.
They have a five-year-old son, Amancio Álvarez Ortega, in common.
Carlos Torretta is active in the fashion world in his own right, as he is an agent for the globally-famous and highly-prestigious Élite Model.
Their wedding will take place in the country estate of Anceis in the village of Cambre, A Coruña province, in Galicia – the same venue as Marta's previous wedding to Sergio.
Sra Ortega is heiress to the Inditex high-street clothing empire, whose best-known brand internationally is the budget chain Zara and its interior design arm, Zara Home.
Inditex also owns the upper-end high-street brands Massimo Dutti and Uterquë, Zara's 'younger sister' Bershka, streetwear chain Pull&Bear, young fashions store Stradivarius, cut-price basics chain Lefties, and underwear firm Oysho.
Marta, the youngest of Amancio Ortega's children, has worked full-time for the family concern since completing her business studies degree, which she split between A Coruña University and the European Business School in London, and has also been deputy chairwoman of the firms Gartler and Partler, which own 50% and 9.3% respectively of Inditex's shares.
Like her ex-husband, Marta competes in international showjumping competitions on her own horses.
She met Sergio when they were children, united by their passion for horses, and became his groom for a while, although before they got together she had a long-term relationship with fellow showjumper Gonzalo Testa.
Marta ended up owning several of Sergio's horses, although after their separation, he took those he had left back to Gijón, where he grew up.
Their wedding was a huge, luxury affair, with hundreds of celebrity guests, the bride dressed in Narciso Rodríguez and a lavish reception at the élite Hotel Finisterre with DJ Mark Ronson, the late Amy Winehouse's producer, providing the music, Anish Kapoor designing the altar, Dutch interior designer Axel Vervoordt arranging the décor, and Marta appearing on the front cover of Vanity Fair.
