FORMER Spanish president Mariano Rajoy has moved back to Madrid after applying for a transfer from his job on the southern Costa Blanca.
The ex-leader, who lost his position in early June after a no-confidence vote against his party, the right-wing PP, had returned to his old role as a property registrar in Santa Pola (Alicante province).
Since June 20, he has been staying in the beach town from Monday to Friday and only going home to the capital at weekends.
But a successful application to the mercantile registrar's on the Paseo de la Castellana, Madrid's main business boulevard, means he is now able to live full-time in the family home with his wife Elvira and children.
Curiously, on the same day the appointment was published, Mariano's sister Mercedes Rajoy Brey's name also appeared, announcing her transfer from a registrar's office in Getafe, Greater Madrid region, to another in the city itself.
