BRITISH artist Elton John's last-ever tour will stop off at Madrid's WiZink Centre next June – as yet the only date in Spain confirmed by his promoters.
The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour starts in the USA on September 8 this year with the first of over 300 concerts on four continents.
Over the next two-and-a-half years, the 71-year-old father-of-two from Middlesex will perform in North, Central and South America, Australia, Asia and Europe.
Sir Elton's European leg will start on May 1, 2019 in Vienna, Austria and continue until July 5, 2019 inclusive, in Munich, passing through Madrid on June 26.
Given that tickets are likely to have already sold out – despite the 'Verified Fan' system forcing users to register and blocking bulk-buying – it is possible Elton's promoters may consider launching a second date in Spain, or an informal appearance at another festival or venue.
This is only speculation at present, but an artist of Elton John's calibre – and the fact he is ending his live performance career after more than half a century – means fans are very likely to book their places a year in advance.
Set to be one of the most spectacular and visual shows the legendary pianist, composer and singer-songwriter has ever put on, Elton says he is 'very excited' about his upcoming tour and 'can't wait' to see his fans 'on the road'.
The artist, who has been married to David Furnish – with whom he has two children – since 2005, expressed his thanks to his 'extraordinary' followers for their 'overwhelming support' throughout his 56-year career.
