CUT-PRICE German supermarket chain Lidl has re-launched a top-of-the-range food processor which sold out within minuteson the last day of June this year.
The own-brand multi-functional kitchen gadget is a near-identical model to those sold by major names such as the Thermomix and the TaurusMyCook, which both cost over €1,000.
But at Lidl, the non-label version cost €359 in June and is now retailing at €229, plus €3.99 for delivery.
The price difference is because the previous food processor had a capacity of three litres, whilst the latest version, the Monsieur Cuisine Plus, holds 2.2 litres.
It comes with a free book of 160 recipes exclusive to these types of cooking machine.
Lidl sold in excess of 70,000 of its own-brand food processors between early 2015 and spring 2018 across its 550 stores nationwide, but the offer on June 30 was the first where every single unit was snapped up within minutes of opening.
A total of 25,000 were placed on sale, and thousands of consumers queued up outside the store ahead of its morning opening to grab one.
Similar to the previous model – the Monsieur Cuisine Connect – the most recent is capable of connecting to WiFi, runs at 10 different speeds, includes a turbo-extra button for whipping, a built-in set of scales, a reverse function for dough and broth, a steamer, and automatic flash-frying and kneading programmes.
Days after it hit the shelves again, Lidl launched a prize draw to win one of its food processors via social media, although this has now closed.
