But she is referred to almost entirely by her nickname, 'Masha', a Russian diminutive of María or Marie.

The couple lives in Miami, as does Enrique's father, veteran crooner Julio Iglesias, and their Anglo-Saxon adopted country appears to have influenced their choices of names for their children – their two-year-old twins are Lucy and Nicholas, and their little sister is Mary, the English-language equivalent of the overwhelmingly popular Spanish 'María'.

Julio Iglesias, the children's grandfather, has reportedly said Lucy is 'the most Iglesias of them all' and that Nicholas' 'Russian side' is very noticeable.

Enrique also recently asked his friend and fellow native Spanish-speaker, Puerto Rican pop king Ricky Martín, for advice about going on tour when you have young children.

The pair are planning a joint tour, and Ricky, who is a dad himself, warned Enrique that travelling around the world performing whilst caring for little ones is 'really tough'.

But he assured the new-ish father that 'it can be done', and Enrique says he and Ricky are in the 'lucky' position of being able to if they wish to.
