A COMPLETE upgrade of roads on numerous urbanisations in Mijas (Málaga province) is about to go ahead with a budget of just over €2 million, the town council has revealed.

Head of public works and infrastructure for the local authority, José Carlos Martín, says 26 re-surfacing plans have been drawn up – one for each residential complex.
These will tackle areas of road which have become deteriorated and hazardous, as well as those which simply need a bit of tarmac to spruce them up.
“Investing in public works creates jobs, and this project involves a major investment which will help reboot the building industry,” Martín says.
Even once the job is finished, spending on road maintenance and revamps will continue, Martín stresses, so he has urged residents and holiday home owners on the urbanisations set to benefit to notify the council of any streets they know of or come across which are deteriorated and need repair.

“Having our road surfaces in a perfect state is essential for ensuring greater safety for residents and other highway users,” Martín points out.
“After we have finished with the surface, we'll then start on sign post repair and replacement.”
Urbanisations due for street repairs and improvements are El Coto, El Faro, Valpinomar, La Sierrezuela, Los Claveles 3, Mijas Golf, Buenavista, Calahonda, Cortijo Chico, Los Adarves, Ana María 1, Gran Calahonda, Cortijo Calahonda, Doña Pilar, Chalet Rocío (Calypso), Doña Lola, Playa Marina, Campo Mijas, Crown Resort, Hacienda Miraflores, Belinsa Playa, Villapinos, Los Olivos (Phase I), Los Olivos (Phase III), Buganvillas, and Cantera del Puerto.
