Amazon offers 3,000 jobs across Spain as logistics centre network expands

ONLINE retailer Amazon has announced 3,000 new job vacancies nationwide over the rest of this year, and aims to have at least 15,000 staff members in Spain by the close of 2021.
A decade on from the launch of Amazon Spain, the company is gradually extending its network of hubs and logistics centres beyond the provinces of Barcelona and Madrid – next year, one of the latter is due to open in Siero, Asturias, on the Bobes industrial estate, and five more are on the cards in the cities of Alicante, Barcelona and Tarragona and in the Barcelona-province towns of Mollet del Vallès and Montcada.
Last year, it opened five more in Dos Hermanas (Sevilla province), Rubí (Barcelona province), Leganés and Alcalá de Henares (Madrid region) and in Murcia.
A second centre is planned for Murcia and one for Illescas (Toledo province), both of which will include the latest-generation technology Amazon Robotics, focusing on employee health and wellbeing.
Two Tech Hubs, in Madrid and Barcelona, will be reinforced over the coming year – already, nearly 600 software developers, engineers and data scientists are based in these, working on applications for Amazon Business, Kindle, and e-books, small retail business, and Artificial Intelligence.
Since it 'landed' in Spain in 2011, Amazon has invested over €6.8 billion in buildings, equipment and facilities, transport and delivery, salaries and bonuses for its employees, and other logistical expenses.
In 2020 alone, the company invested over €2.5bn in improving its processes, giving pay rises and guaranteeing a reliable, swift and punctual services for its customers.
The jobs offered are in all the above areas mentioned, plus Valencia city and Carlet (Valencia province), and range from warehouse and storage workers and packagers through to software engineers and developers, team managers, human resources, digital marketing experts and assistants, Cloud experts, and similar.
Salaries are generally competitive and above average, with full- and part-time positions on offer.
