Rail travel offer ends midnight Friday: Cut-price tickets for journeys in 2022
17/11/2021
THERE'S still time – just – to grab a heavily-discounted train ticket valid for travel next year before rail board RENFE's 'flash' offer ends.
Reduced-price journeys are up for grabs either at physical station ticket offices, or via the RENFE website, until midnight this coming Friday (November 19).
This early 'Black Friday' deal applies to the high-speed AVE link, currently the fastest and most comfortable way to get from A to B by train – as an example, this express service covers the 350 kilometres from Valencia to Madrid in just 90 minutes – and also to the long-distance or Larga Distancia 'snail rail', which typically takes much longer but is normally considerably cheaper than the AVE, typically less than half the price.
As an example, the Larga Distancia covers the Valencia-Madrid route in about six hours, including a stop to change trains midway in Alcázar de San Juan (Ciudad Real province), but is often preferred by those not in a hurry as it can cost at least twice as much to use the AVE and get there in an hour and a half.
Although the Larga Distancia covers many more destinations than the AVE, some of the most popular offers and highest numbers of tickets are available for mainland Spain's biggest cities, such as Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Málaga, Sevilla, Zaragoza and Alicante.
All 'Black Friday' discounted purchases are valid for travel during 2022.
Examples of some of the incredible offers include one-way tickets from Madrid to Barcelona or in reverse from €10.90, Sevilla to Madrid for €19.30, and Barcelona to Paris from €35, among others.
As all dates next year are covered, availability is unlikely to be a problem for any journey, but travellers need to get their tickets before the end-of-Friday deadline.
