KING Felipe VI's annual Christmas Eve speech once again included a covert appeal to secessionist politicians, as well as raising concerns about young adults' struggle to afford housing and violence against women.
King catches Covid, but he's okay, confirms Royal Household

SPAIN'S reigning monarch has been forced to clear his diary and self-isolate for a week after testing positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday morning, according to reports from the Zarzuela Palace.
King Felipe VI (pictured above) noticed 'mild' symptoms compatible with a cold or 'flu, and opted to take a test as a precaution, given that he spends most of his life in face-to-face meetings with international figureheads.
It came back positive, meaning HRH Felipe had to call off his planned lunch meeting on Wednesday with Bosnia & Herzegovina president Željko Komšić at the last minute.
Also, the monarch will not be able to preside over the King of Spain-Bank of Spain Economy Awards ceremony due to take place this week.
Additional engagements the King has had to pull out of include a conference with scientists and entrepreneurs at the National Science Museum, and an audience with the Forces in the Royal Palace, meeting the Vice-Admiral of the Navy and various Generals, Colonels and Naval Captains.
According to the Royal Household, Felipe VI's health is 'generally good', and he will continue working from home on 'admin and office work' relating to his 'rôle as head of State' during his week-long quarantine.
His wife, Queen Letizia and the youngest of their two daughters, the Infanta Sofía, 14, have no symptoms, meaning that in line with current procedures, given that they are both fully vaccinated, they will be able to continue with their Royal work schedule and, in the latter's case, school, without any changes.
The King's eldest daughter, Princess Leonor, 16, is in Wales, halfway through her first year of sixth form, so has not been in face-to-face contact with her father and in a position to catch the virus from him.
King Felipe VI, whose 54th birthday was just 11 days ago (Sunday, January 30), was originally vaccinated at Madrid's WiZink Center concert stadium on May 29, 2021.
As his job means he is constantly 'on the road' and frequently out of the country, HRH Felipe was given the single-shot Janssen vaccine, so he would not have to make himself available for a second dose if it clashed with his schedule.
Regional health authorities began attempting to contact all those who had been given the Janssen, from November, to summon them for a booster dose.
Zarzuela Palace confirms King Felipe has been vaccinated 'in accordance with health authorities guidelines', which suggests he would have had a follow-up jab at the end of 2021.
Although the main aim of the vaccine is to prevent infection, and those who have been jabbed have a much lower chance of catching Covid, its other purpose is to ensure that those immunised who do become infected are either asymptomatic or only suffer minor symptoms, thus drastically reducing danger to life and the risk of requiring hospital admission.
