A 21 year old Norwegian tourist was stabbed to death at around 2.30am on Monday morning as he was strolling along the Avenida Tenerife in Playa del Inglés.
Police are searching for a number of suspects and believe that robbery to be the most likely motive.
The young man, who was on the fourth day of his holiday, was stabbed in the left side of his chest with a large knife which was found abandoned around 300m from the murder scene.
