Náquera is a municipality in the Camp de Túria comarca, in the province of Valencia, located at the foot of the Sierra Calderona. Its origins date back to prehistory, as demonstrated by the many archaeological sites found within its territory. During the Islamic period, it was an agricultural hamlet and, after the Christian conquest by Jaime I of Aragon in the 13th century, it became part of various lordships. The expulsion of the Moriscos in 1609 caused a sharp decline in population, although over time the municipality recovered thanks to agriculture and later to residential tourism. Today it is known for its natural surroundings, its hiking routes, and its proximity to Valencia.
