When you first come to Pla de Corrals, you could mistake it for a sleepy little village in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do. Wrong! The village has its main fiesta around the end of August, lasting for four days and nights. There is a stage and numerous bands, and families travel for miles to enjoy the festivities. There is always something being celebrated, and the village embraces family time. The surrounding villages also celebrate various traditional Spanish fiestas, namely the Moors and Christians festival in July, which will bring a tear to your eye.

Pla de Corrals is situated 20–25 minutes inland from Gandia, with its shopping, numerous bars, restaurants and cafés, historic buildings, numerous blue-flag beaches and even its own palace. From the port, in two and a half hours you can be in Ibiza, Majorca or Menorca.

The local village of Barxeta is 3 km away and has local shops such as a butcher, greengrocers, banks, a pharmacy, bars and cafés, a small supermarket and a small local market. This is also where you will find the nearest infant and junior schools, with teenage education available in Xàtiva.

Simat de la Valldigna is 8 km away, and the road down has some of the most amazing views of the valley you could wish for. Fifteen minutes from the village, you will also find La Galiana Golf Club. The larger historic town of Xàtiva is 15 minutes away, with all the shops and amenities you would expect from a larger Spanish working town, buzzing nightlife, numerous banks, shops and supermarkets, and even its own castle. There is also a train station, from which you can be in Valencia in 30 minutes, at a cost of about €9 for a day return. There is also a British school here if needed.

Just 15 minutes inland from Xàtiva, you will find the lovely lakes and waterfalls in Anna and Chella for those not wanting the beaches. Alternatively, the beaches of Tavernes are 20 minutes by car, and the water park in Cullera is 35 minutes away. All of this is only 50 minutes south of Valencia Airport and 75 minutes north of Alicante Airport, both served by numerous international airlines.
