Undeveloped Land for sale in Grado, Asturias
- 10838 m2
Description
Imagine arriving on a Friday afternoon. You park beside the cottage, switch off the engine… and hear nothing. Just the wind moving through the grass and the occasional bird in the chestnut trees. Ahead, the Grado valley opens up between meadows and hills. Behind you, the week you’ve just left behind.
That’s what you’re buying here. The square footage comes later.
The property
More than a hectare of Asturias: 10,838 m² on a hillside, with 8,329 m² of green meadow and 2,402 m² of mature eucalyptus woodland—standing timber ready to harvest. Plenty of space for a vegetable garden, fruit trees, a few horses, or simply to lie in the grass without anyone looking at you. And one detail that matters a lot in the countryside: water reaches the property through an old-fashioned pipe, the kind once used to water the cows.
From almost anywhere on the property, the view stretches out across the valley, and at sunset the light falls over the hills in a way no photograph can capture.
The cottage
In the middle of the meadow stands the stone cottage, built in 1900, with thick rubble-stone walls, a curved tile roof, and an upstairs wooden balcony that is Asturias in its purest form.
Downstairs is the cowshed: 84 m² of open-plan space, with the original stone manger still in place, where livestock fed more than a century ago. Upstairs is the hayloft: 72 m² beneath an exposed timber structure, open to the valley through the balcony. Altogether, the buildings have a total constructed area of 175 m².
Today, it serves the same purpose it always has: a place to store tools and crops, shelter animals, or simply have your own hideaway when you come up to the property. And with its stonework standing for more than a hundred years, it’s the kind of building they no longer put up.
What you need to know
The cottage needs work: the roof and some of the timber need a thorough renovation. The property has no active water or electricity connections. Even so, water reaches it through an old pipe that once supplied the livestock, and the power line runs alongside the plot, so there are options. It is being sold as rural land with its cottage in its current condition and use; any change of use would need to be discussed with Grado Town Council.
The surroundings
You can drive right up to the property, which isn’t always the case in the Asturian countryside. Grado is just a few minutes away, with supermarkets, a health centre, schools, its Sunday market, and all essential services. Oviedo is about half an hour away. Close enough to visit any afternoon, and far enough away to hear nothing.
The owner also has other properties in the area that are not included in this sale, but can be negotiated separately if someone wants to expand.
Who it’s for
For anyone looking for a peaceful spot in the hills to escape to on weekends and tend the land at their own pace. For anyone needing land for animals or cultivation. And for anyone who understands that a hectare in Asturias, with views and road access, is an asset they simply don’t make anymore.
