Can Picafort is located in the northeast of the island of Mallorca, directly on the Playa de Muro. In contrast to the west of the island with the center of Palma and the luxury resorts of Andratx, Santa Ponsa, and Port d’Andratx, the northeast places a great deal of value on peace and privacy. Luxury is not displayed here—it is enjoyed quietly.
The landscape is still intact in many areas. Excessive development has been prevented. People here also speak of the island’s “corn chamber.” Very many agricultural products are grown here and sold at the weekly markets in the individual towns. Visiting one of these markets is an absolute must.
The beaches and harbors of Puerto Pollensa, Puerto Alcúdia, and Can Picafort are among the most beautiful on the island. Due to the lower level of settlement in the northeast, you can find peace and relaxation here. These are sandy beaches and ideal for children, non-swimmers, or older people. The water gradually gets deeper and there are no very high waves. For parties and night owls, the northeast is not the right place.
The wonderful small towns of Pollença, Alcúdia, and Artà—with a great deal of historic building culture and beautiful weekly markets—are reachable within 15 min. by car. Six golf courses are reachable in about 20 min. by car. The variety of excellent restaurants leaves nothing to be desired for gourmets.
Here you can still get freshly caught fish at affordable prices. Since the island is manageable in size, there is no problem being in Palma within 45 min.
