Palamós began life as a small fishing village in the 13th century and is now the only commercial port in the province of Girona. The Old Town harbor area today provides a hugely atmospheric backdrop for numerous bars and restaurants, with fresh local prawns appearing in a wide range of local gastronomic specialties. Like most of the other popular resorts along the Costa Brava, Palamós enjoyed a tourist boom during the 1960s thanks to the fact that it is home to some spectacular beaches such as the large beach that dominates the municipality or the beach of the Fosca. Palamós also has a medieval old town and spectacular scenery, which makes it an ideal place for anyone who wants to invest in the Costa Brava.
