Cala Ratjada is one of the most important fishing ports of Mallorca. The town is located in the northeast of the island, in the municipality of Capdepera. The old port of Cala Ratjada still has its traditional character and charm. Numerous fishing boats rock romantically here, including the traditional Mallorcan "llaüt". There are excellent beaches nearby. Many can be seen from the promenade. Starting with the tamarind-shaded little beach of "Cala Gat" and continuing to the rocky cove of Sa Pedruscada with its tiny fishermen's cottages, after leaving the sandy beach of "Cala Moll" behind.
Although Cala Ratjada is not a classic shopping destination, you can get everything you need for an enjoyable vacation. The main shopping street is Carrer L'Agulla Elinor Servera. Several larger towns nearby offer a wider selection of stores and markets.
Cala Ratjada also has a weekly market on Saturday mornings at Placa del Pins. Or you can visit the markets in Capdepera on Wednesday or in Arta on Tuesday. Besides feasting and enjoying in bars and restaurants during the high season, you can stroll through historical gardens. Or you can show yourself active with a wide range of water sports. The east coast is more popular with surfers than the rest of the island because there is traditionally more swell here. This restaurant was the first on Mallorca to win a Michelin star, in 1977. The younger generation has inherited the legacy of haute cuisine from the family business parents.
