Cañada del Trigo is on the border between Alicante and Murcia. The pretty village has many traditional properties, along with some modern villas in the countryside. There are two popular bar restaurants. Pinoso town is 10 minutes by car; Alicante airport and beaches are 50 minutes away.

There is a cooperative of wine and other wineries in the village. The most characteristic product of this district is queso al vino (cheese of the wine), which has a denominación de origen. Its crust is smooth and very light, with a garnet-red colour due to being washed in red wine and salt whilst maturing. It is a cheese that can be fried with tomatoes when fresh and is typical of the Jumilla and Yecla regions.

The village is near the mountain El Carche, and in the surrounding areas, protected pine-clad natural areas can be found, where you can find thyme, rocket, rosemary, lavender, and conifers. Fiestas: Cañada del Trigo celebrates fiestas from 3 to 15 August in honour of the village’s patron saint, the Virgen de los Remedios. On the 15th there is a parade in the morning, lunch, and Mass, followed by an offering of flowers and a procession through the streets, with fireworks and festivities.
