When you first come to Pla de Corrals you could mistake it as a sleepy little village in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do—but that’s not the case. The village’s main fiesta is around the end of August and lasts for 4 days and nights, with a stage, numerous bands, and families traveling for miles to enjoy the festivities. There is always something being celebrated, and the village embraces family time. The surrounding villages also celebrate various traditional Spanish fiestas, such as Moors and Christians in July.
Pla de Corrals is situated 20–25 minutes inland from Gandia, with shopping, numerous bars/restaurants/cafes, historic buildings, numerous blue flag beaches, and even its own palace. From the port, in about 2.5 hours, you can be in Ibiza, Majorca, or Menorca. The local village of Barxeta is 3 km away and has local shops such as a butchers, greengrocers, banks, pharmacy, bars/cafes, a small supermarket, and a small local market. This is also where you will find the nearest infant/junior schools, and then to Xàtiva for teenage education.
Simat de la Valldigna is 8 km away, and the road down has some of the most amazing views of the valley you could wish for. About 15 minutes from the village you will also find La Galiana Golf Club. The larger historic town of Xàtiva is 15 minutes away with all the shops you would expect from a larger Spanish working town, a buzzing nightlife, numerous banks and supermarkets, and even its own castle. There is also a train station where you can be in Valencia in about 30 minutes for the cost of around €9 for a day return.
There is also a British school here if you need one. Just 15 minutes inland from Xàtiva you will find the lovely lakes and waterfalls in Anna and Chella. If you prefer beaches, Tavernes are about 20 minutes by car, and the water park in Cullera is about 35 minutes away. All of this while being only 50 minutes south of Valencia and 75 minutes north of Alicante airports respectively, both served by numerous international airlines.
