Access is outstanding. The property can be reached from the town of Sax in different ways, all via tarmac roads, leading to remotely controlled gates and then a long driveway past the olive grove to a parking area, where there is an option for covered parking if required.

The property is entered via a long conservatory, the room you will spend the most time in when you are not outside. It has spectacular views over to the mountains, as well as to the amazing pool and poolside lounge and bar areas. It is a house for entertaining as well as being tranquil, private and far from remote. There are neighbours, but everything is secluded.

The conservatory can be entered from the front or from the side, leading to an L-shaped terrace where you can have sun or shade. From here, you access the pool area using a few steps down. This area can be closed off if you have very young children and/or pets.

From the conservatory, you enter an immaculate lounge/diner/kitchen with a feature log-burning fire and an open brick surround. The kitchen is spacious and has high-quality units.

There is a passageway to the bedrooms and one of the bathrooms, helping to separate the sleeping areas from the living areas.

One of the bedrooms is a small single and would possibly be best used as a home office, as there is excellent internet in the area. The second bedroom is a double, and the principal bedroom has a beautiful en-suite bathroom. All the bedrooms are light and airy.

All the bedrooms have A/C, as does the lounge/diner. All units are inverter so they can be used as a relatively economical way of heating in winter.

The best may be saved until last: both the interior space and exterior space are fabulous, and the new swimming pool with a stunning lounge and bar is breathtaking.

There is also a decorative guest toilet, a pump room, and loads of terracing. The lounge area is one of the most relaxing areas seen at a country property, especially in the evening with the lighting.

About Sax: The picturesque town of Sax sits on a hillside in the Vinalopó Valley in south-eastern Spain and is one of a series of towns and villages in the Costa Blanca region dominated by castles. Sax has a population of around 9,000 and is located between Villena and Elda.

The history of Sax goes back to the times of the Moorish occupation beginning during the eighth century, and little is known about the town prior to that time.

The people of Sax are warm and friendly, and the town has a good selection of shops, tapas bars and restaurants. A market is held twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Sax also has its share of fiestas and festivals, with the main one being the Moors and Christians festival held during the first two weeks of February.

The Castillo de Sax (Castle of Sax), lit up at night, was originally built on a limestone ridge during the tenth century, and the Levante tower from the twelfth century still survives today. The keep and courtyards were built at a later date. Despite its strong defensive position, both Sax and its castle were taken by troops under Jaime I of Aragon in 1239. Later, in 1476, Sax became part of the Marquisate de Villena within the province of Murcia. During the War of Spanish Succession (1701–1714), Sax sided with Felipe V, who conferred the title “Muy Noble y Muy Leal” on the town for its staunch support. In 1836 Sax finally became part of the province of Alicante.

The towering rock which looms over Sax is a popular place for rock climbing, with the most notable ascent being the Peñas del Rey.
