Catral is a municipality in the Valencian Community, Spain. Located in the south of the province of Alicante, in the Vega Baja del Segura region. It currently has approximately 8,690 inhabitants. The town is "Tourist Municipality of the Valencian Community". It is located approximately at the same distance from the capital of Alicante and Murcia (42 km), 15 km from Guardamar de Segura and 20 km from Torrevieja. The capital of the region, Orihuela, is 16 km away and the industrial centers of Elche and Crevillente 15 and 10 km respectively.

The current communications motivate its strategic importance, because through the motorway (A-37) and the dual carriageway (A-7) it is possible to travel to Elche, Murcia, Alicante, and Torrevieja. There is a railway station 3 km away (Albatera-Catral). Alicante-Elche International Airport is 30 km away. 20 minutes by car from the 18-hole par 72 La Finca Golf course in Algorfa, 25 minutes from the Marquesa de Rojales Golf course.

The climate is temperate, exceeding 10º in temperature in January and 26º in July. To the Northeast is the natural park "El Hondo" where you can find several diversities of birds, such as the white-headed, the stilt, the avocet, the common pochard, etc.. .
