Fornells is a small fishing village in northern Menorca, situated on the bay of the same name. It is a small settlement belonging to the town of Mercadal, which grew out of the suburb that developed near the Castle of Sant Antoni. Historically, it was a strategic location for defending Fornells’ natural harbour, as evidenced by the military structures found here, some of which can still be visited, such as the Fornells Tower, the largest defensive watchtower on the island. But above all, Fornells is lovely for its palm-lined waterfront promenade beside the harbour. It is a popular destination for trying the famous lobster stew, and the area around the harbour is full of restaurants serving it, along with other seafood delicacies such as Mahón-style mussels. That is why I wanted to put together a list of a few places to see in Fornells, the fishing village in northern Menorca.
