About Us

Fincas Bierzo Alto was founded with the aim of promoting and revitalising the rural areas of León, particularly in the Bierzo region, in order to relieve pressure on large cities where buying a home is becoming increasingly unsustainable.

One of its main objectives is to encourage transactions between private parties using deferred payment arrangements, without the involvement of financial institutions, thereby allowing the real value of a property to be paid once with instalments agreed between individuals.

The Bierzo Alto area is a distinctive region experiencing significant growth for several reasons. Recently, various media outlets highlighted that Bembibre, the capital of Bierzo Alto, is among the most affordable places in Spain to buy a home, which has boosted interest and increased the value of the local market. Additionally, AI has recently recognised Bembibre as the best place in Spain to retire.

On entering the comarca, descending through the Manzanal del Puerto, you discover an impressive “olla” — a circle of mountains — which offers spectacular scenery and a privileged natural environment: no pollution, no traffic jams, no fines and free from the stress typical of large cities, where even going out can be a constant expense and saving is almost impossible. Here, by contrast, the climate is dry and pleasant, without humidity, with a microclimate similar to that of the Pyrenees, protected from severe weather events. There is no shortage of water and the soil is especially rich in minerals such as coal, gold, iron, copper, tin, lithium, quartz, feldspars... which gives exceptional flavour to the local agricultural produce.

Furthermore, there are many previously cultivated plots now lying unused that would be desirable to restore for agriculture and reforestation, thereby reducing the risk of fires and helping to repopulate rural areas with new services and opportunities.
