Welcome!
I am Mercedes Cuevas, graduated in Law from the University of Oviedo and in Criminology from the University of Alicante.

I have been a lawyer for more than 20 years, having specialized in legal advice to European citizens in various areas of Law related to their life in Spain, such as the purchase of a property, an inheritance or their divorce.

Passionate about languages, I have higher education in English, French and German, as well as basic knowledge of other languages, such as Italian or Portuguese. This allows me to communicate with my clients in their own language, without the need for translators or intermediaries, as well as to write certain legal documents in their language, such as sales contracts or draft wills, among others.

In constant training, since I finished the Master in Practical International Law at the University of Murcia, I focused mainly on the study of the continuous reforms of European Union Law and private International Law, in addition of course of national Law.

My other “legal” passion would be Criminal Law, hence my studies in Criminology and an inter-university Master degree in the Criminal Justice System at the University of Lleida, although the greatest training for a criminal lawyer is and always will be to defend the rights of the beneficiaries of legal aid, forming part of the public defenders’ Office.

With this profile I hope to do my bit to make Law, and especially International private and European Law, more accessible to the citizens.
