Calas de Mallorca is located on the east coast, roughly halfway between the two towns of Port Cristo and Portocolom. The town centre is situated on a limestone formation that is pierced by numerous caves at sea level.

The town’s infrastructure is largely geared to tourism. There are various hotel and apartment complexes as well as single holiday homes and apartments. The centre of Calas de Mallorca is lovingly referred to as the “Centro Comercial” (shopping centre).
It is the area of the town that offers a large entertainment program with various bars and restaurants, shopping opportunities and leisure activities such as miniature golf.

The town’s administrative centre provides public services such as a post office, a local police station, a tourist information office and a medical practice.

With Cala Domingo Gran, Cala Domingo Petits and Cala Antena, the town has a total of three larger sandy beach bays, which also gave the town its name. All three bays are known for excellent bathing-water quality. A well-maintained coastal path connects Cala Domingo Gran with Cala Antena.

The entire area is considered the most cave-rich region of Mallorca and is a popular diving and snorkeling area. However, most of the caves in this area have not yet been explored.

The season in Calas de Mallorca typically starts in April and ends at the end of October. In the winter months, most hotels, bars and shops are closed. Then everything needed for daily needs can be found in Portocolom, Port Cristo or in Manacor, about a 20-minute drive away.

The airport is about 70 kilometres away and is very easily reachable via the motorway between Manacor and Palma.
